“A week devoted to digital electronics for master’s students (DEEPCEL consortium)“
In the framework of the DEEPCEL project, co-funded by the European Union, we organized in Ferrara (Italy) the first student week of the DEEPCEL project. During five days (September 7 to 11th, 2026), international teams of students will address a common project based on Modular Digital Electronics Systems. Several workshops and webinars will be also proposed during this special week. Additional information will be published soon, but registration is already open for students and teachers coming from the universities included in the project consortium (Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Universidade do Porto, Università degli Studi di Ferrara and Université de Tours).
Registration is now open: contact your professor at your university.
General program (coming soon): contact your DEEPCEL member professor to be selected [link to contact info]

Collaborative project:
- Goal: create an eco-designed system for AI data processing and inference using modular open source FPGAs, Arduino and sensors.
- Teamwork: students will experiment with the design of an AI application to process data coming from environmental sensors using FPGA and Arduino processor! Raspberry Pi, FPGAs, and more will be available to all the student for the acquisition of signals from environmental sensors, processing the data reconstruction and a dedicated educational FPGA platform. Different levels of abstraction (from VHDL to Python can be envisioned).
- A team of students from the 4 universities of the ERASMUS+ DECEL project (Univs. Porto, Alcala, Ferrara, and Tours)
Seminar / Confirmed speakers:
- Dr. Enrico Calore from Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN)
- Speakers from industrial partners from Active Technologies, Selcom, Infineon to be confirmed for the event
Location: Università di Ferrara – Polo Scientifico Tecnologico, Via Giuseppe Saragat, 1, 44122 Ferrara FE, Italia
